Según alegan desde el colectivo, es frecuente que en esta vía se efectúen «carreras de coches, motos e incluso furgonetas», lo que provoca peligro de colisión con los vehículos que salen de los aparcamientos de los dos centros comerciales allí localizados.
Asimismo destaca la asociación Alone que con este tipo de actitudes «el peligro para la seguridad física de los viandantes es una amenaza constante».
Estos vecinos concretan en su escrito que los hechos que relatan, y para los que piden una intervención de la administración local para su erradicación, que que la semana pasada hubo un atropello de una persona que, «por suerte, no sufrió daños graves» pero no conciben que se pueda producir este tipo de prácticas en una zona muy transitada.
Al escrito, la asociación vecinal ha acompañado el respaldo de las firmas de cuarenta personas, vecinos y propietarios de viviendas de la calle Baleares y otras vías circundantes.
Asimismo en la reclamación piden que la alcaldesa, Marylène Albentosa, se tome la seguridad vial como una cuestión prioritaria para la convivencia ciudadana y reclaman que se tomen medidas, especialmente con la instalación de bandas reductoras de velocidad como las que se han colocado recientemente en la calle Cartagena y también en el polígono industrial.
